Financial Aid - Grant Programs

 

Grant programs provide non-repayable financial aid for students with demonstrated financial need.

To apply for grants, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Grant Programs

 

Federal Pell Grant

A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid.  In order to qualify for the Pell Grant you must:

  • Complete a FAFSA
    • Demonstrate financial need (calculated by the Federal Government when you submit a FAFSA)
  • Enroll in credit courses in an approved program of study
  • Submit any requested paperwork to the BC3 Financial Aid Office (as requested through your BC3 email)

 

 

You are not eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant if you are:

  • Incarcerated
  • Have a bachelor's degree
  • Fail to make SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress)
  • Are in default on student loans
  • Owe federal Overpayment monies to the Department of Education

 

 

 

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

Federal SEOG Grants are available to students with exceptional need.  Any student wishing to be considered for this grant must:

  • Enroll at least half-time (6 or more credits)
  • Demonstrate Pell Grant eligibility

 

 

Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) State Grant

Like the Federal Pell Grant, the PHEAA State Grant does not have to be repaid.  In order to qualify for the PHEAA State Grant you must:

  • Be a Pennsylvania resident for at least a year
  • Submit a FAFSA by May 1st
    • Submit a Status Notice with PHEAA (linked on your FAFSA confirmation page)
  • Enroll in an Associate Degree Program
  • Enroll at least half-time (6 or more credits)
  • Make satisfactory academic progress according to PHEAA's progress policy guidelines (different than academic progress)
