BC3 Professional Education & Certificate Programs

Act 48 Courses for School Personnel

BC3 currently offers two non-credit courses that meet ACT 48 requirements.

Act 48

ACT 48 requires all persons holding Pennsylvania professional educator certification to complete continuing educational requirements every five years in order to maintain their certificates as active.

Please be sure to fill out an ACT 48 Participant Data Form and submit to Christine Coblentz in the Continuing Education department. Please use the address listed at the bottom of the form. This form is to be used for those taking credit classes and/or the two approved non-credit ACT 48 courses.

 

Prezi - ACT 48

Prezi is a new, web-based presentation tool that uses a map layout and shows contextual relationships by zooming, turning and displaying 3D images. Seminar participants will use Prezi features to develop an interactive multimedia presentation, import an existing PowerPoint presentation and store them in the "cloud". Prezi features will be compareed against PowerPoint features. Teach your students this new technology and/or use it in your classroom. If you want to get your students' attention and "take them on a journey" with your course content, Prezi may be the way to get their interest, keep it and teach them this new technolgoy at the same time!
This workforce development seminar will help the teacher develop and/or upgrade the industry skills that are necessary or required for PA Certified Elementary, Middle and High School Classroom Teachers.
This course is formally recognized upon completion with ACT 48 Hours and records are maintained by Butler County Community College.

Integrating Social Media in the Classroom - ACT 48

This seminar demonstrates how to integrate social networking sites (such as Facebook and Twitter) into the classroom and how this integration enhances the learning environment for the teachers and the students. Each participant will have the opportunity to construct a learning community within Facebook and/or Twitter in order to increase student engagement and provide opportunities for students to connect with faculty and their classmates.
This workforce development seminar will help the teacher develop and/or upgrade the industry skills that are necessary or required for PA Certified Elementary, Middle and High School Classroom Teachers.
