The Associate in Science Degree in Education is designed to provide the basic coursework necessary for transfer to a baccalaureate program at a four-year institution.
The state of Pennsylvania has stringent teacher certification guidelines; therefore, the College recommends that all students adhere to the planner requirements. Since four-year colleges and universities determine which courses are acceptable in transfer, it is essential for all students to contact their chosen transfer institution to verify course acceptance. Graduates in the associate program can seek employment in the education field as teacher assistants or teacher aides.
The student/graduate will be able to:
- Create a portfolio that includes artifacts supporting Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
- Identify specific professional characteristics associated with employment as a teacher.
- Evaluate the role of individual growth and development as it relates to learning outcomes.
