Already earned college credits? Whether through high school courses, military experience, or another college, we’re here to help you make the most of your hard work. Use the resources below to see how your credits can transfer to BC3.

Already earned credit in high school?

You may qualify for BC3 credit through AP classes, vo-tech programs, or dual enrollment. 

Transferring from another college?

We welcome students from across the state and beyond. 

Your service counts. 

You may receive credit for military training and coursework. 

Turn your experience into credit. 

You may qualify for credit based on work, certifications, or community service. 

Steps:

  1. Contact the academic dean for your area of study. 
  2. Prepare a portfolio with supporting documents. 
  3. Submit to life.credits@bc3.edu

Note: There is a $150 portfolio evaluation fee per course.

Have other test scores or training?

How to Apply as a Transfer Student

  1. Apply to BC3 and pay the $25 application fee.

  2. Submit transcripts from:
    • High school (or GED/HiSET scores)
    • All colleges or universities you’ve attended.
      Note: To transfer a course to BC3, you must have earned a final grade of “C” or higher.

  3. Send AP or CLEP scores directly from The College Board.
    Note: AP scores must be 3 or higher.

Transfer Your Financial Aid

If you're receiving financial aid at another school, you can transfer it to BC3. 

If you have a current FAFSA you will need to update the school so BC3 can receive the information.  

  • Go to: www.studentaid.gov  and log in with your FSA ID and Password
    • Click on your FAFSA
    • Click “Edit” at the top right
    • Click “Add a School”
      • BC3’s School Code is 003240
    • Click Search 
    • The school will show at the bottom.  Checkmark BC3 (Butler PA) and click Add, then click Next
    • Click Sign & Submit Tab at the top of the page
    • Review the changes and click Submit  (Parents are also required to sign for dependent students)
    • Your Confirmation Page will display 

The Financial Aid Office will email you at your BC3 Email Account as soon as we download your FAFSA. 

If you borrowed the Federal Direct Student Loan at your other college your MPN will be valid here after a few steps.

  • Go to www.studentaid.gov and log in.
    • Entrance Counseling
      • If you have already completed Loan Entrance Counseling, hover over your name on the top right and select My Documents.
        • Drop down the menu and select Loan Counseling. 
        • Drop down the most recent Sub/Unsub Entrance Counseling and click Notify Additional School.
        • Select BC3
      •  If you have NEVER completed Loan Entrance Counseling, hover over “Loans and Grants” and select Loan Entrance Counseling.
        • Click Start next to I am an Undergraduate Student
        • Select BC3 and Continue through the quiz.  This process will take about 20 minutes.
    • Master Promissory Note (MPN)
      • Hover over Loans and Grants and select Master Promissory Note (MPN)
      • Select the Undergraduate Loan (subsidized/unsubsidized loan) and complete the application for BC3. 
  • Register for at least 6 credits at BC3 
  • Check your BC3 Email Account regularly for the Loan Request Form; it must be submitted before your loan can be processed.
  • Email your previous college financial aid office to cancel the spring disbursement of your loan there.
