(Latrobe, PA) Carter Blystone and Colt Sprankle in their second career outings Monday for the Butler County Community College men’s golf team helped BC3 to cut 28 strokes off its fall season-opening score and to a second victory in a tri-match.

Blystone shaved 10 strokes and Sprankle nine off their opening day scores with 4-over 74s at Glengarry Golf Links in Latrobe, where the Pioneers defeated the Community College of Allegheny County 305-311 and tied Westmoreland County Community College.

BC3 in its fall season opener Sept. 11 defeated Westmoreland 333-334 but fell to CCAC, which had a 315.

The lowest four individual scores from each squad are counted to determine a team total.

Gannon Brown cut 10 strokes off his Sept. 11 score and finished with a 78 and Johnnie Mikos trimmed five and ended with a 79 for BC3, which is 2-1-1.

CCAC’s Kayden Lyons finished as medalist for the second time in the fall tri-matches with a 71. Westmoreland’s Gunnar Shoop placed second with a 73, Blystone and Sprankle tied for third, and Westmoreland’s Shaun Kovac was fifth with a 75.

CCAC’s Connor Jacobsen placed sixth with a 77, BC3’s Brown and Westmoreland’s Johnny Lovre tied for seventh with 78s, and Mikos, CCAC’s Henry Simcox and Westmoreland’s Noah Dubyak tied for ninth with 79s.

Blystone and Brown are graduates of Butler Senior High; Sprankle, of Knoch; and Mikos, of Cardinal Mooney, Youngstown.

The Pioneers’ fall golf season concludes with the WPCC championship tournament. BC3’s spring season features regional play, regional tournaments and possible national championship appearances where golfers compete for All-American status.
