(Allison Park, PA) Jaxon Salata shot the lowest score on the Butler County Community College men’s golf team for the first time in six matches as the Pioneers opened their spring season April 10 with a 2-1 record behind the Butler Senior High School graduate’s 78 at North Park Golf Course.

Westmoreland County Community College defeated BC3 315-324. The Pioneers topped the Community College of Allegheny County, which posted a 344, and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, which had a 385.

Luke Andercheck, Westmoreland County Community College, led all golfers with a 77 on the par-72 course.

Mitchell Covert added a 79 for BC3, Parker Worsley an 83, Mason Phillips an 84 and Bodie Spohn, an 86.

The four lowest scores of golfers on each squad are totaled to arrive at a team score.

Salata last led the Pioneers on Sept. 19 at Lake Arthur Golf Club near Butler, when he finished as medalist with a 1-over 73 against Westmoreland County Community College and the Community College of Allegheny County.

Worsley and Spohn are also graduates of Butler Senior High; Covert, of Lincoln High in Ellwood City; and Phillips, of Knoch.

BC3’s women’s team did not compete April 10.

The Pioneers’ next match is April 17 at Glengarry Golf Links, Latrobe, against Westmoreland County Community College, the Community College of Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
