Office of the President

Interim President Coval

Megan M. Coval is the interim president of Butler County Community College.

The former executive director of the BC3 Education Foundation and external relations was appointed to her current position by a unanimous vote of BC3’s trustees May 16, 2024.

She was hired in September 2021 for the BC3 Education Foundation position following a nationwide search.

Over the following 30 months, Coval was instrumental in raising nearly $7 million in private contributions toward construction of the Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building on BC3’s main campus, and securing a $500,000 federal grant to purchase equipment and technology for the facility.

Coval has extensive experience in higher education, leadership, government relations and relationship management. Her background in federal and state government relations uniquely positions her to navigate legislative and executive proposals that could affect BC3.

She served as vice president for policy and federal relations at the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and, also in Washington, D.C., as director of government relations for the U.S. Department of Education’s Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance.

Coval also worked as an admissions counselor at The Pennsylvania State University.

Prior to becoming interim president of BC3, Coval was chair of the government relations affinity group for the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges, where she led administrators from 15 institutions and advocated for the sector with elected officials.

She serves the community as a board member of the Friends of Preston Park Foundation and as a member of the Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Healthcare Advisory Board for Independence Health System.

Coval is a co-chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council’s Employee Development Task Force at BC3.

She earned a master of education degree in higher education administration with a policy focus from The Pennsylvania State University and bachelor of arts degree in political science with a communication arts minor from Allegheny College.

A Butler native and Valencia resident, she and her husband, Nick, are the parents of two daughters, Annie, 7, and Gracie, 4.
