Many of our program instructors are Pennsylvania-certified teachers and experts in their content area.
Milann Karnes
Milann Karnes earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education at Clarion University of PA. She teaches algebra, geometry, and calculus at Moniteau School District. Having studied curriculum and instruction, she pocesses the ability to thoroughly explain problems and solutions. Patience and expertise are her gifts.
Megan Kramer
Megan Kramer is a German, ESL and Gifted Support Teacher at Slippery Rock High School.
She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in German and Secondary Education from Westminster
College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. She later earned a Masters of Science in
Elementary Education from Duquesne University and completed the English as a Second
Language Certification program as well as the Gifted Endorsement program.
For ten years she taught at international schools in Switzerland and Dubai before
returning to Pennsylvania in 2010. In addition to teaching and tutoring, Megan scores
the TOEFL and TOEFL Junior tests, the SAT Essays and the German Praxis. Her extensive
experience on both sides of standardized testing is an asset when it comes to tutoring
for the Praxis. Megan is passionate about teaching and about helping others to become
teachers.
Annie Lindsay
Annie Lindsay completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education at
Miami University of Ohio and then continued her studies to earn a Master of Education
in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati. She is certified to teach
grades K-6 and also maintains her principal certificate for grades K-12.
Annie taught for eleven years in the elementary classroom before joining the Butler
County Community College family. She currently teaches courses for the education department
and the PAPA/PECT/Praxis program. Annie has been preparing students for high-stakes
standardized state testing since entering the classroom. She believes that understanding
the test objectives, preparing with the correct materials, and designing a study plan
geared to meet each student’s needs are the keys to success!
Stephanie Long
Stephanie Long completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (grades
K-6) and her Master of Education with a Reading Specialist certification both from
Slippery Rock University. She previously taught nine years in the elementary classroom
in two different states before beginning her career at Butler County Community College.
In addition to teaching Preparatory and Developmental Reading courses, Stephanie also
teaches multiple education courses for the college. She believes preparation and encouragement
are essential to passing the Praxis and PAPA exams. By focusing on the content and
working on test taking strategies, Stephanie believes every student will achieve their
dream of becoming a teacher.
Karie Muir
Karie Muir graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry
and a Master's degree in Secondary Education. Karie started as a Chemistry teacher
at a public high school then transitioned to private tutoring in a wide variety of
academic environments.
Karie has worked extensively with homeschooling students and also online with SAT
and ACT test prep students. In addition to Praxis tutoring, Karie currently teaches
Environmental Science at Butler County Community College. Karie likes to create a
learning environment that allows her students to feel supported along their academic
journey. Karie enjoys preparing her students for exam day and seeing her students
achieve success.
Holly Murphy
Holly Murphy earned her Bachelor of Science Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Grove City College. She earned her Master's and Reading Specialist Certification at Slippery Rock University. Holly currently serves as a K-6 reading specialist in North Hills School District. She also enjoys working with Praxis/PECT students through online courses and individual tutoring. Holly understands the hard work and preparation that goes into preparing for the exams and is dedicated to helping her students pass!
Marie Sabatelli
Marie Sabatelli holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Geneva College in
Beaver Falls, PA. To pursue her passion for teaching, she later earned a Master of
Education Leadership degree from Immaculata University. Marie is certified in both
Elementary Education K-6 and English 6-12.
She has twelve years teaching experience in a brick and mortar setting with grades
K-3 where she was elected Teacher of the Year by the student body. She has been teaching
Middle School Language Arts online for the past seven years and is skilled at preparing
students for high-stakes standardized tests. Ms. Sabatelli has a desire to support
teachers in developing their craft and guiding them through the world of education.
Brian Welsh
Brian Welsh graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2017 and a Master of Education in Secondary Education/History in 2019. Brian started his career working in a private school for court-adjudicated youth and is currently teaching at Knoch High School within South Butler County School District. In addition to teaching, Brian also coaches varsity football and varsity boys and girls track within Freeport Area School District. Brian understands that the path to becoming an educator is not always easy and he is passionate about aiding those walking that path in any way possible.
