Scholars Program

The Scholars Program is a combination of courses and an independent study project designed to reward students who seek a more challenging academic experience at Butler County Community College.

Presidential Scholarship

Butler County residents who graduate in the top 10% of their high school graduating class in a Butler County public high school are eligible for the Presidential Scholarship, a full tuition scholarship from the BC3 Education Foundation.  Students who have accepted the Presidential Scholarship are enrolled into the Scholars Program.  Students must enroll to start in the fall immediately following their high school graduation.

Benefits of the Scholars Program

  • Scholarship
  • Early registration for classes

Scholars take four Scholars-only classes:

  • Two general education courses in the first year of enrollment
  • Two courses leading to an independent study project in the second year of enrollment

The independent study program answers a research question under the supervision of a mentor.
Students interested in learning more about the Scholars program should contact the coordinator of the Scholars Program, Michael Dittman.
